What to Expect From the Boudoir Experience

The Siren boudoir experience is intended to inspire a deeper feeling of self-acceptance and self-love through the creation of intimate portraits. You can expect gorgeous backdrops, perfect boudoir lighting, and posing advice to help us nail those jaw-dropping shots.

When it comes to what you should wear for your boudoir photoshoot, think about what you feel sexy in. Lingerie and lacy bodysuits are a common favorite, but themed outfits can be a lot of fun too. If you feel best wearing nothing at all, you’re welcome to pose nude. It’s really up to you!

If the idea of walking into your photoshoot feeling empowered is a little daunting right now, know that once you’re in front of the camera it’s my priority to help you feel comfortable and at ease. You may not be feeling yourself 100% when we begin the session, but by the end you will be!

10 Tips for Increasing Your Confidence For Your Upcoming Boudoir Photoshoot

A boudoir photoshoot is a great way to boost your confidence, but if you’re looking for practices to help elevate your energy and self-image beforehand, you’re in the right place. Here are ten simple ways to increase your self-confidence.

Avoid comparing yourself.

In the anticipation of your upcoming boudoir session, you’ve probably browsed tons of boudoir photos so you could get pumped up. But instead of feeling inspired and excited, you walked away feeling deflated. My biggest piece of advice is to avoid comparing yourself to other people. If you’re too focused on the great features of another human being, you can’t fully welcome in what’s incredible about you. Stay in your lane and focus on your best features both inside and out!

Show gratitude for your body.

Our bodies are incredible, and we don’t give them enough credit for their ability to do a million different things, all at once, without conscious effort. Intentionally showing yourself gratitude for the legs you travel on as you go about your day or the eyes that allow you to see the sunset, you can better appreciate just how innately beautiful your body truly is.

Question your negative inner voice.

The next time you have a negative thought, ask yourself: Is that true? Oftentimes the battle we face for our own self-confidence is all in our minds. Yet when you take a second to question this negative self-chatter, these thoughts don’t hold up. How you speak to yourself is central to improving your self confidence, and it’s time to flip the script.

Find time for your self-care rituals.

No matter how hectic your life gets, you deserve time to take care of you! Boudoir photoshoot or no boudoir photoshoot, you should be prioritizing yourself. Self-care rituals are different for everybody. Yours might be taking a long bath and doing a facemask, or it could be enjoying a great beverage alongside some fresh air. Invest time in the things that recharge you, whatever that looks like for you.

Write down the qualities you like about yourself.

This includes physical and non-physical qualities. Think about what you’re good at, and your relationships with the people around you. Are you a whiz in the kitchen? Are you awesome at your job? Are you a great parent/child/sibling/friend? Do you have great hair, a cute butt, or strong legs? Write down your favorites and leave the list somewhere you can see it.

Practice self-love affirmations.

Self-love affirmations are phrases you say to yourself to affirm your self-image. Purposefully reciting phrases like “I am capable and strong” or “I am beautiful inside and out” has been shown to strengthen the neural pathways that lead to more positive thoughts.

Connect to deeper self through meditation or mindfulness.

When’s the last time you checked in with yourself? Meditation and mindfulness practices are effective ways of getting in touch with your inner self. You may be surprised to find just how liberating it can be to acknowledge you are more than just the body you inhabit—even though that body is fabulous.

Release endorphins.

You can release endorphins (and have fun while doing it) by moving your body in whichever way you enjoy the most. Yoga, climbing, lifting, cartwheels, dancing—it all works! Your options are abundant and the rewards are proven: Physical movement is great for your mental well-being which means it’s perfect if you want a boost pre-shoot!

My favorite way to vibe out is by putting on Beyonce music videos because she is a rockstar at moving boudoir poses. I'll put them on and move along with them! Try it for an empowering experience that normalizes your body moving freely.

Buy a sexy outfit.

It’s the best kind of retail therapy. You can even wear your new sexy outfit during your boudoir session—and whenever else you want to feel good. Not sure where to start? Feel free to think outside the box! Sexy can mean so many different things. It could be lingerie or something revealing, but some people love the idea of keeping it mysterious. Showing less can be more sexy—think silky robes and cover ups and sheer dresses. Whatever makes you feel like a million bucks.

Try not to take yourself too seriously.

Invite some lightheartedness into your life and your upcoming boudoir photoshoot. Don’t worry—it won’t take away from achieving those seriously sultry gazes in front of the camera! You can be comfortable, relaxed, and even silly during your boudoir photoshoot. Plus, when you feel at ease it’s much easier to feel good about yourself inside and out.
